Finance Module
Budget items, income, expenses, and monthly trend tracking
Last updated 2026-09-12
The Finance module tracks income and expenses so you can see cash flow alongside your work activity. Enable it by selecting the Finance role in Settings → Preferences.
Budget items are the core record. Each item is either income or an expense, with a category, amount, date, and optional notes.
The dashboard shows:
- Total income vs. expenses — stat cards with current period totals and trend direction.
- Monthly trend chart — a bar chart comparing income and spend across months.
- Expense by category — donut chart breaking down where money is going.
- Budget item list — sortable rows with category, type (income/expense), amount, and date.
Create a budget item with New item. Categorize expenses consistently (e.g., software, payroll, marketing) so the donut chart gives useful signal.
This module is designed for founder-level visibility, not full accounting. For tax filing or payroll, export the data and bring it into your accounting tool. Use Reports → Business Review to include a finance summary in board or investor updates.
Link financial goals (e.g., "reach $50K MRR this quarter") to key results and set the Finance module as your primary tracking source.
