Understanding Your Roles
How roles shape modules, filters, and reporting
Last updated 2026-09-12
Roles in Opzello are not permissions—they are lenses on your work. When you log time, you tag an entry with the hat you were wearing. Each role unlocks relevant categories in logs and a dedicated module dashboard.
Available roles:
- Developer — software projects, sprints, and code-related work logs.
- Marketing — campaigns, channels, budgets, and launch planning.
- Logistics — shipments, carriers, delivery status, and exceptions.
- Sales — deals, pipeline stages, and revenue tracking.
- Design — design assets, review status (draft → approved → published), and creative hours.
- Finance — budget items, income and expense tracking, and monthly trend analysis.
- Product — roadmap items, feature priorities, and delivery planning.
- HR — open positions, hiring pipeline, and headcount planning.
- Data Analyst — custom tracked metrics with trend comparison over time.
- Customer Success — customer accounts, health scores, and churn risk monitoring.
You can enable multiple roles on one account. Multi-role professionals see combined analytics but can filter any view to a single role. Goals can also be scoped by role so a technical OKR does not mix with a growth OKR.
When generating reports or running AI analysis, role filters narrow the context. The Analyzer only includes logs matching the selected role unless you choose “All roles.” This keeps recommendations specific.
Update roles anytime in Settings → Preferences. Historical logs keep their original role tags; changing defaults does not rewrite past data.
